• Hurricane Michael - Tyndall Air Force Base Community Housing

  • Tasman conducted initial response and structural damage assessment of over 800 housing units, days after the Category 5 hurricane made landfall

  • Project Value: $8M

Response-6

Tasman was initially hired by Balfour Beatty Communities to perform emergency services in an effort to mobilize a skilled team of professional Safety, Engineering and Demolition personnel to the Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida in response to the Hurricane Michael. As a result of Tasman’s response performance during the initial assessment phase, Balfour Beatty Communities retained Tasman to perform moisture abatement, selective demolition, demolition, debris cleanup, restoration activities and general support at the base for 6 different base housing facilities with over 800 homes.

Tasman continues to manage and perform moisture/mold remediation and renovation of four (4) of the military base communities located at Tyndall. Once a damage assessment was complete, Tasman mobilized upwards of 80 moisture/mold abatement and demolition personnel to begin large-scale interior/exterior abatement and remediation activities.

The moisture damage to over 800 military base homes and various community centers spurned microbial spore growth throughout the structures and HVAC systems. The specific remediation activities at the Site has included asphalt roof replacement, window repairs, building recovery service/water remediation to include moisture mapping, removal of heavily moisture damaged wall coverings (drywall, etc.), treating surfaces with microbial solution, cleaning and encapsulating, and carpet removal. This work has also included developing a detailed project schedule and work plans, with extensive documentation managing and coordinating with other trade subcontractors on site.

Tasman conducted initial response and structural damage assessment of over 800 housing units, days after the Category 5 hurricane made landfall. Once the damage assessment reports were completed and structures were deemed safe for entry, Tasman mobilized upwards of 80 personnel to begin large-scale interior abatement, selective demolition and removal including drywall, HVAC components, appliances, carpet, tiles, etc. to strip down the housing units to the studs and bare concrete. The wall studs, head walls, and roofing beams were then treated with a mildew preventing solution. Tasman continues to be involved with various elements of renovation including HVAC system, siding, and electrical repairs.
